Intrigued by the contradiction between the aphorism’s content and the teaching of the Christian Dogma, I decided to ask him what the phrase actually means.

- Actually, said Jesus, people have missunderstood my words. I never said that.
- Indeed, that would have been surprising. It would have meant “forget about salvation, just don’t give your pearls to pigs and keep ‘em for yourselves”.
- Err, I never thought of that.
- What did you think, then?
- I thought about pears. There was a rich farmer who fed his pigs with pears, so they had sweeter meat. (I was about to write “pork”.)
- So the teaching tell us to avoid the sin of greed, that is to eat what we dont’t like.
- Mainly, it’s about that.
- Then you should stop complaining about your followers leaving you for me.
